Hello again. Its been forever since I've written, and a lot has happened. I had an extra short Thanksgiving break because of basketball season and a tournament in Nebraska, but I was still able to see my family on Thanksgiving day. One of my pictures is on my brithday (Nov. 27). We went to Logan's steakhouse to eat and it was a lot of fun.

Before I knew it I was cramming for finals. I did pretty well and finished my first semester as a college student with a 4.0. Yay! I was super excited to go home for almost two weeks. It was great to see my sisters and all my family at Grandma's house. We had a great time. Of course, was kinda bummed to have to come back up here so early; but I got busy with basketball again, and school started back up again very soon. I did go home one more time before classes started to see my sister, who is a senior, in our high school homecoming. I put a picture of us on here too.

I've been really busy with my classes so far this semester. I'm taking Shakespeare, American Lit 2, US History, World Civilization II, and American Government. I've had alot of homework already! Basketball is really winding down, and we have like seven games left in conference. I can't believe it has gone so fast. We've kind of been through a little slump. We started the year off with only two or so losses going into breakl and since then, we've gotten to a record of like 11-9 or something like that. I really hope with our win over Southwestern (who was ranked first in conference), we can turn it around for the second half of conference play. All for now!

Hi there. A lot has happened since I last wrote. (I got all A's on my mid-terms for all of those who were wondering). We've had three basketball scrimmages and a junior varsity game, which have all gone really well. Our first official game is tomorrow in Alva, Okla. But it doesn't feel like the real first game because we've already had some. I was pretty nervous for our first scrimmage against the alumni; but once we got into the game, the nerves went away and it was a lot of fun. Practice has gotten a little easier since we finished up with two-a-days, and I feel like I have a little extra time to hang out with friends. We basketball girls have been going out to eat together a lot lately, as you can see in my photos. I think it makes our team better if we hang out together outside of practice.

I choose my classes for next semester with my advisor: Shakespeare, American Literature II, World Civilization, Government, etc. I choose half of my classes to go with an English major and half to go with a Political Science/History major because I still can't decide which route to take. As long as I can get into law school, I really don't care! Sometimes I wish I wouldn't have had so many college credits coming into college, and I could take some easier general classes; but I'm pretty sure I'll be OK. I've learned if you actually go to class and live by your syllabus, you'll be fine. What a crazy concept!

Hello there. It’s Kelsey again, and it’s the Sunday before I have to go back to school after my four-day fall break. Which sounds all great and exciting right?! Except my break consisted of two-a-day basketball practice. I did go home Saturday night and came home this afternoon though. I really don’t want to go back to school though!
Basketball practice “officially” started on Monday, Oct.15, though we have been really practicing since school started. We were playing pick-up ball three times a week until Sept. 15, when we began pre-season conditioning. Since the gym was still under construction we had to travel to Campus high school for conditioning. I was really glad when the gym was finished so we didn’t have to drive 20 minutes for practice!
Practice was hard, but so was studying for mid-terms. I think I did OK on them, but I guess I’ll see for sure when I go to class this week! Because the Casado Dining Hall was closed on Thursday and Friday, Coach Soyez provided the basketball girls who lived in the dorms or apartments with two meals, which was really nice.
During two-a-days on Saturday we had about an hour and a half break, so three other basketball girls and I went to Willie C’s Café for a long lunch. My pictures are of us eating there. It was a lot of fun to hang out with some girls on the team and have fun without thinking about the practice we still had to go to later in the afternoon.
Well, I think that’s all for now!Kels

Hello there! It's Kelsey again, and my pictures are from my weekend of the Sept. 23 in Lawrence, Kan. My cousin Jenna plays volleyball for the University of Kansas Jayhawks, so my family picked me up in Wichita, and we all went to the game. It was a lot of fun. You also get to see my two sisters! Lindsey is the older one and is a senior at Greensburg High. McKenzie is 9 and is in the fourth grade. I'm very close to them, and it was great to spend the weekend together. After the game we headed up to Kansas City for the Chiefs game. We've had season tickets for quite a few years now and i'm their biggest fan! Tony G. is my future husband; he just doesn't know it yet!

And as promised ... here are a few random tidbits about myself.
  1. I grew up riding horses on a farm because my dad is a farmer.
  2. Yes, my town was destroyed by the tornado, but I am incredibly lucky to still have my house.
  3. I like to eat a lot, especially P.F. Chang's.
  4. I am a sloppy perfectionist.
  5. I could go shopping every single day and never get tired of it.
  6. If I'm not shopping, I'm playing basketball.
  7. I am a pre-law major at Friends University.
  8. I am a nerd. Seriously. I actually like school, books, learning and writing papers.
  9. I would consider "Desperate Housewives" an obsession.
  10. I love Garth Brooks.
Now that you know basically everything of interest about me, who knows what I am going to talk about in my next journal?

Kelsey: Sept. 16, 2007

Hello there. My name is Kelsey Heft and I am a freshman at Friends University, but kind of a sophomore. I guess you could just call me a freshman coming into college with 34 credit hours or something like that. Yes, that is a lot! i was lucky enough to go to a school that offered many college courses for high school seniors and juniors to take. I also went to Europe this past summer and received six hours for that.
With all my hours I was able to get an apartment in Falcon Glenn, instead of the dorms. It all sounds great, but I would actually encourage freshman to live in the dorms. Especially here at Friends where you have five roommates instead of one. It’s a lot easier to meet people through the dorms, where so much more is going on. If I could do it over, I would live in the dorms my first year to easily meet more people.
I was extremely lucky to be paired with a roommate who I get along with great. As you can tell, she is way more organized than I am!
I wish they would not have put a McDonalds so close to my apartment! Dollar snack wraps are super cheap, and so good! I love the ranch ones with crispy chicken.  I advise anyone to avoid the intersection of Seneca and Douglas, because the dollar menu is addicting, and fattening.
Until next time. I'll be sharing fun facts about myself. I know you can't wait!Kelsey
